Final Photo Project

For my final set of photos I had originally intended to emulate the style of documentary photography by taking my camera out for a night with my friends and I headed to a concert and the events that might occur with it. After observing my scenery at the concert I noticed that the feel of the Old Main had one of pop art. The constant changing of the colors of the building allowed for me to grasp a very hazy and colorful set of photos. In the end I created only 2 photos but the photos used to create them were 7 in total. I tried to emulate Andy Warhol in these photos. This type of photography appeals to me because the colors and overall fun of this style are just more aesthetically appealing to me personally. Andy Warhol was a very important man within this realm of art because of his ability to create such simple looking and bold images. My photos are similar to that of Warhol's because of the bright and simple colors used. The images I created will be different because they are photos that are not altered in any way but instead layered together and the colors occurred in real life.
In this first photo this is where it occurred to me that I can incorporate pop art into real life. The 3 images that created this one image were almost done accidentally and are related to my overall idea because of the colors.
Once again this photo is related to the others because of the colors and the simplicity in the way it was created. The overall idea of the photo was just to take a picture of what this scenery looks like from the outside instead of being on the inside.

Set of 7 of the original photos.

Texture

Texture is always fun to explore with because objects we normally pass by can take on a completely different appearance. Although the textures in these photos is not prevalent you get a feel of gritty and graininess coming from them. The wood is what I was focusing on in these photos. In the third one you can see the wood along with the aged plastic tubing and their contrast.

Repetition

These 3 photos consist of repetition. I've always been fascinated by repetition because of it's hypnotic quality. Also the repetition can give the viewer a feeling of calm because it is so simple. The repetition for these photos are the birdcage itself and the birdhouse.

Depth

With these 3 images I was toying with the focus and trying to see what items in the photo would disappear. Each time I tweaked the focus just a bit and the final result is fun because we get an up close shot, a middle ground shot, and a shot of the background. Each photo is of the same exact thing but each one gets it's own feel to it.

Asymmetrical balance

For my first experimentation with the elements we learned in class was balance but I wanted to try asymmetry. A personal preference of mine when looking at any type of artwork is when the focus off-center. These 3 photos have more than one element used but the balance of the photo is to the right and that is where the eye is drawn to.
